So right from the off, back in the summer when I got the Robin hood I expected to be off to a flying start. Sure I got her up and runnign right away. But there was no charge from the alternator.
I replaced the Brush, regualtor and rectifier which made no difference
I tried a new alternator but that seemed to be faulty too.
I had checked all the wiring and made sure the warning light worked.
I then went to plan two and dug out an old larger alternator from a later model sierra, but as it was a little larger the belt would not fit. I bought about 10 belts trying to get an optimal size. The problem was that there was either no adjustment and you could nto get teh belt on, or the alternator would hit the steering column before tightening up.
I tried to fashoin a kind of braket to push the alternato up a bit from scrap metal but it was useless.
Then I found a nice bracket on EBAY for £350!!!
However, Having just got my 3D printer up and running again after a 3 Month Lul due to issues.. I struk on the idea of a step up plate to be printed for testing. And then send it to a CNC shop in China for manufacture.
I am almost there with the mock up
There have been a few itterations so far.
